WMS

A WMS (warehouse management system, SGA in Spanish) is the software that manages the warehouse by locations: it records receipts, put-away, picking, shipments and stock counts. With it, system stock matches physical stock at all times.

How is a WMS different from stock control by item?

Unlike stock control by item, a WMS knows where each unit is: in which aisle, shelf and slot. With that information it works out the shortest picking routes and detects preparation errors. It also allows a permanent stock count, which replaces the annual one. It is operated with radio-frequency terminals that read barcodes.

Where it appears in W3ERP

The W3ERP warehouse management module with radio frequency manages the warehouse by locations with mobile terminals. Receipts, put-away, picking, shipments and stock counts are recorded the moment they happen, and the module prints labels and barcodes. Because it uses the same database as the ERP, the stock that sales sees is the real one.
