Traceability

Traceability is the ability to reconstruct the complete path of a product or batch: which raw materials it comes from, which processes it went through, on which dates, with which quality results and to which customers it was delivered. It relies on batch identification and on recording every movement.

What types of traceability are there?

There is backward traceability (from a delivered product to its raw materials) and forward traceability (from a batch of raw material to every customer who received it). With the second, only the affected goods are recalled after an incident. It is required by standards, certifications and many industrial customers.

Where it appears in W3ERP

In W3ERP, traceability comes from three functions. The batch and packaging management of the sales, finance and production module follows each batch from receipt to delivery. The PEFC/FSC chain of custody covers certified material. And the radio-frequency WMS records every warehouse movement the moment it happens.
