Chain of custody
The chain of custody (PEFC or FSC) is the record-keeping system that proves that the wood, paper or cork in a product comes from sustainably managed forests. The record follows the certified material through the purchasing, production and sales of every company in the chain.
What must a company with certified chain of custody do?
Every certified company must separate or account for certified material, keep purchase documents with the supplier reference, calculate the percentages of mixes and issue invoices with the correct claim. An annual audit checks the records; without them, the company loses the right to use the label on its products.
Where it appears in W3ERP
W3ERP handles the PEFC/FSC chain of custody in its sales, finance and production module. Certified material is recorded in purchasing, production and sales within the ERP itself, and the documents the audit asks for come out of daily management, with no separate spreadsheets.
