EDI

EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) is the exchange of commercial documents (orders, delivery notes, invoices, shipping notices) directly between the computer systems of two companies, in a standardised format, with no paper, email or manual typing.

Why do large retailers and manufacturers ask for EDI?

Large retailers and many manufacturers require EDI from their suppliers. The order arrives in the supplier ERP already loaded, the shipping notice leaves before the truck and the invoice reconciles itself. Some chains and purchasing groups make it a condition for working with them. With EDI there are fewer errors and payment comes sooner.

Where it appears in W3ERP

In W3ERP, EDI is one of the functions of the sales, finance and production module. Orders, delivery notes and invoices exchanged with customers and suppliers enter and leave the system through the sales and purchasing workflow, and nobody has to type them in again.
